In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Having considered the enclosed letter from the Commissioners of the Navy, it will be difficult, in a reasonable time, to find 500 oak trees more in this forest fit to be cut. There is no doubt of 300, and if upon the general survey and marking up of all fit for use the Purveyor observes one or two hundred more may be felled it might do well to make a winter fell and then add 100 beech for plank. Signed Philip Ryley, surveyor general of their Majesties' woods.
