In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Enclosure: Copy of a letter from Principal Officers of the Ordnance in which they indignantly complain about having received bills from a Mr Chudleigh, a Navy Officer at Kinsale, for taking out and reshipping the guns belonging to the ANGLESEY, KINGFISHER and PEARL while claiming that this service has always been performed by the Navy as a matter of course. They further inform that five vessels are being built expressly for that purpose and that they should become available shortly. The opinion is expressed that the Navy and not the Ordnace should pay the bills. On the reverse full details of the build-up of the costs involved in removing the guns in order to repair their carraiages are given, including the use of lighters and lightermen. Signed by Thomas Littlejohn, [C] Musgrave, and William Boulter, Ordnance Board Commissioners.
