In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Copy of the sentence at the Court Martial of John Okey, late Surgeons Mate of the ASSISTANCE, who was accused of speaking treasonable and seditious words on board the said Ship on the 3rd April 1696. It appeared to the Court by evidence on oath that he has been guilty of the charge against him , and it is resolved that he falls under the 23rd Article. The Court does decree that John Okey shall receive twenty five lashes on his bareback on board the ASSISTANCE to which he belonged, and that he shall forfeit all the Pay due to him in the said Ship to the Chest at Chatham.
