A notebook containing drawings by E. Pearce made while aboard HMS ENTERPRISE.
A notebook containing drawings by E. Pearce. Pearce’s ink and coloured pencil sketches follow the adventures of an ordinary seaman (probably a reflection of his own experiences) on board and ashore. They cover everything from training to shipboard routine and on shore drunkenness, and reveal the artist’s eye for the absurdities and humour of naval life and his healthy cynicism about authority and command.
