Log kept by James Inman during a voyage from Port Jackson to St Helena, from 21 September 1803 to 17 May 1804 on HMS INVESTIGATOR. The log book contains a series of navigation tables with notes on the days. Also include is information on the crew such as comparing one man to Robinson Crusoe when preparing for battle, punishment for various infractions and a four page description of discovering Muskill group island (now one island called the Vulai) the discovery of shipwreck Chinese sailors from a Chinese Junk and bartering with the local Indians who James occasionally referred to savage though jovial at what the crew where bartering for.
