Logbook of the East India Ship ESSEX kept by Jeremiah Sparrow.

The first pages have a crew list of the voyage including four that ran, seven that died and one that changed to become a soldier also included is a list titled Quarter Bill Ship Essex; at the back is corrections for Altitudes, to find the longitude and question and answer section, to find the latitude by the moon and an account of the Latitude and Longitude of different shoals in the China Sea.

Administrative / biographical background
ESSEX was launched in 1780, principle managing owner Henry Boulton and Commander John Strover in 1788-1789.
