Stewart, Archibald Thomas, Commander, 1876-1968.
The papers consist of two logs, 1892 to 1896, as well as documents collected by Stewart. These include some letters received by Lord Charles Beresford, 1886 to 1889, and a small manuscript booklet entitled 'Reasons by the officers of the Brunswick for leaving the fleet, 1st June 1794'.

Stewart entered the Navy in 1890 and joined HMS BOADICEA, flagship of the East Indies station, in 1892. He transferred to HMS BONAVENTURE in 1894 and in the following year to HMS ACTIVE, training squadron. For the remainder of his career he served mainly in the Mediterranean, retiring with the rank of commander in 1920. Stewart was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1918 for his services in connection with the First World War.
