No date recorded. A detailed account of timber resources in Ireland submitted by John Naish Shipwright and Thomas Knox Purveyor of timber for the building of ships in Ireland. The preamble explains that Naish has been sent to Ireland to inspect, fell, and frame timber, for warships in the place of a Francis Sheldon who has died. He is later joined by Knox as Purveyor to the Navy as replacement to a Mr Green who left his post due to mismanagement. Subsequently, Naish and Knox have been active in the forests of Leinster and Munster and have had shipments sent to Yards in the Thames and the Medway. However, due to difficulties in arranging convoys and of weather, they now put forward proposals for continuing the trade. Much is made of the virtues of Ireland for building ships for the Navy. The account ends with Naish and Knox putting themselves forward as undertakers either in their present capacities or under contract.
