P&O Ferries : through five decades /by John Hendy, Miles Cowsill.
This book was produced to mark the 175th anniversary of the founding of P&O. P&O Ferries are a comparatively recent amalgamation of a number of separate concerns, e.g. Townsend Thoreson. The book covers the various routes operated over the years: Dover-Calais; Normandy and Iberia; the North Sea; the Irish Sea and the P&O Scottish heritage routes. The development of roll on-roll off ferries and the problem of competition from the Channel Tunnel are also covered. There are numerous colour photographs. A fleet list of P&O ferries as at October 2012 can be found at the back of the book.
