A poor quality starboard broadside view of the general cargo spritsail rigged barge Centaur (1899) under sail in the River Thames during a Thames Barge Match. The location is likely to be in Lower Hope or Sea Reach. She is on the port tack and has a white jibsail which is boomed out to port. Her race number flag on her forestay and her owner's crescent logo on the topsail. F. C. Gould & Son

Her sails are set and she is using a jib, staysail, mainsail, topsail and mizzen. Her boat is on a painter astern. Her name is on the hull but image movement makes it illegible. A slightly distant starboard bow view of the swim headed stumpy spritsail barge Elizabeth (1865) dried out on the shore at Bycliffs, Gravesend. Berthed outboard of her is the stumpy spritsail barge Amy Cecilia (1877). Both barges are owned by William Fletcher of Bycliffs, Gravesend. Starboard broadside view taken ahead of beam of 3 masted schooner rigged steam yacht Enriqueta (fl.1878) at moorings on River Thames near Gravesend, Kent. This yacht has a clipper bow with scrollwork & figurehead & short counter stern embellished with ornate scrollwork. She has a single bell topped buff funnel abaft mainmast. The vessel's name is on a board on the hull just above the bow scrollwork. All of her crew are uniformly dressed, this may be a pilot or customs vessel. F. C. Gould & Son
