A slightly distant port bow view of six spritsail rigged topsail barges under sail in the Thames estuary during the Thames Barge Match. The barges are said to be, from left to right, the Sara (1902), Torment (1903), Genesta (1903) and Thelma (1901). They are all on the starboard tack in a strong north-north-east wind. The two barges on the extreme right are not identified. F. C. Gould & Son

A distant port bow view of spritsail barges under sail in the Thames estuary during the Thames Barge Match. They are all on the starboard tack in a strong north-north-east wind and are heading upriver, having rounded the Mouse Light Vessel which can be seen in the distance. The barges, from left to right, are the Sara (1902), Genesta (1903), Torment (1903) and Thelma (1901). The barge in the right background has not been identified. F. C. Gould & Son
