The passenger/cargo liner Nubia (1895) leaving Gibraltar with the Scots Guards for South Africa

A distant starboard quarter view, taken from very fine off the stern, of the passenger/cargo liner Nubia (1895) in service as troopship number 1 under way at Gibraltar. She is bound out for South Africa with the 1st Battalion Scots Guards on board for service in the Boer War. The ship sailed from Southampton 20 Oct. 1899 and arrived at Cape Town 13 Nov. 1899. Two Gibraltar light ships are moored in the background. Vertical format.
