Hastings luggers
The Hastings lugger Industry regd RX94, also described in negative P75379, is seen here from the port stern quarter, beached, its name visible at the top of its lute stern. The rudder hung through a cut-out in the lute stern planking falls short of the iron-banded keel to avoid contact with the shingle, hence it need not be shipped when the boat is being launched or beached. This lute stern design provided lift in following seas.
