Eastbourne sprat boat
This portrait view of the ca. 25ft lute-sterned, clinker-built Eastbourne lugger William and Dorothy NN145, beached, is taken from aboard the boat looking towards the bow, with spars and two sweeps laid for-and-aft on two forward thwarts. A painter is coiled beneath the stem head, to the port side of which is an iron ring, apparently to carry a bowsprit in case of a jib being hoisted ahead of the dipping lug foresail.
