Fifie yawls, Buckie, Banffshire
The fifie yawls BCK 402 Masher, BF 1479 Fidelity and BF 436 Rescue are shown bow-on, rafted up together in just inches of water in Buckie harbour. The carvel-built fifies have three distinctive rubbing strakes on their topsides, in the case of Rescue, these being protected from abrasion from boats alongside by a vertical timber fastened like a mooring leg. Doghouses are visible in the first and third boats; the Fidelity in the centre is seen from such an angle that only the mast and the spar lashed to it are visible above the gunwale.
