Portchester, spritsail boat sailing
At a distance of some 100m, a boat, perhaps a naval sail training boat of some 20ft, is sailing on a broad reach towards the right side of the picture, with a crew of approx. six. The boat is ketch-rigged with a jib, sprit mainsail and sprit or standing lug mizzen set. Beyond on the low shoreline are some industrial buildings, with a long wooden jetty.
