Framed watercolour drawing entitled "A Battleship". The watercolour is signed by the artist and dated.
Information from Brian Osborne May 2005:
'I am almost certain that he was John James Jelley, born in Lincoln in 1863 and recorded in the 1901 census as aged 38, married ,and living in Benwell ( Newcastle on Tyne). He is recorded as a painter (artist) self employed and working at home.
The Tyneside location fits in with the paintings, and the census although recording many J.Jelley's the only other James Valentine Jelley an art teacher was I think the well recorded J.V.Jelley (landscapes and still life artist) from Birmingham'.
