The front of the diary has a dedication to Ellen Collins' brother who died 10 May 1874 and poems with such titles as 'Life boat', 'A deed of Horror' and the 'French man in a fix'; the index to the poems is located towards the back. Has loose pages and newspaper clippings in the back.
