Eating and drinking in Greenwich

Greenwich is full of all sorts of places to eat, including traditional and modern British pubs, restaurants, cafés and bars. Here are some of our favourites:

  • The Parkside Café & Terrace at the National Maritime Museum is the perfect place to sit outside and enjoy views of the park while enjoying a glass of wine and a delicious hot meal. There is a special children’s menu too.
  • Greenwich Market is home to food stalls serving delicious dishes from around the world, vegan treats and freshly roasted coffee.
  • Looking for a classic British dish? Head to Goddards at Greenwich. A family-run business since 1890, Goddards’s pies include minced beef, steak and ale and cheese and onion, all served with mash.
  • Experience an afternoon tea like no other underneath Cutty Sark. Visit the ship to learn about the famous tea clipper, built to transport tea to Britain. Then enjoy a traditional Cutty Sark afternoon tea underneath the ship. Pre-booking is required.

Royal reasons to visit

Tudor kings and queens, historic palaces and the oldest enclosed royal park, Greenwich has had royal connections since the 9th century.

Both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were born here, Charles II founded the Royal Observatory and many other monarchs left their mark on the historic area. In 2012 Greenwich officially became a Royal Borough as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Start planning your royal day out with our guide to the best things to see and do.

Getting to Greenwich is easy

Take the train from London Bridge and be in Greenwich in just 8 minutes. Alternatively, why not hop on an Uber Boat by Thames Clippers and arrive in style by river?
