For a memorable and unique artistic experience, head to the Queen's House for a guided drawing workshop facilitated by artists Federico Baeza-Autillo and Sarah E Shaw.

The event will begin with a talk about the iconic Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I, and will be followed by the drawing workshop. For creative inspiration, bring along a picture of a loved one to sketch. This event is suitable for all abilities, and art materials will be provided.

Workshops are subject to staff availability and operations capacity.

Workshop information

  • Timings: Select Fridays and Sundays between May and September 2025 at 10.15am. The first workshops are planned for Sunday 11 May and Friday 16 May 2025.
  • Duration: 90 minutes.
  • Workshop capacity: 6-12 people.
  • Prices: £20 for adults (plus £3 booking fee per booking); £15 for adult members.
  • How to book: Tickets can be bought online only. Online sales open one week prior to the date of the workshop.
  • Meeting point: Undercroft, located through the door between the curved exterior staircases.
  • Suitability: Suitable for those aged 16+.
  • Accessibility: The talk on The Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I will take place in the Queen’s Presence Chamber, located on the top floor of the House. Step-free access is available via lift and access ramps. The workshop will take place in the Undercroft, located on the ground floor.
  • Ts&Cs: Depending on the group size, the workshop will be delivered by one or two artists. Please check your ticket for further Terms & Conditions.

About the artists

Federico Baeza-Autillo (b.1957) is a recognised Spanish artist who has lived in the UK for nearly 30 years. He has trained in the prestigious San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid and Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts London. His specialism is landscapes using different techniques and materials. 

Federico has exhibited in private galleries across Europe, and his works are part of private collections in Europe, America and Asia.

Artist Sarah E Shaw and two of her artworks

Sarah E Shaw (b. 1994) is an artist working local to Greenwich. Using a wide range of mediums, but finding her strength in watercolour painting, she has created a variety of work featuring landscapes both figurative and abstract. Sarah has made paintings for private commissions based in London and has showcased her work in galleries around the United Kingdom.
