In this letter, Maskelyne refers to the delay in presenting Pigott's paper on observations of Mercury to the Royal Society which he has recieved from Sir Harry Englefield. Maskelyne also describes his observations of a 'starry comet' which has no tail and appears like a planet at high magnification. Contains a sketch on the back.
