Letter from Nevil Maskelyne to Edward Pigott with thanks to Pigott for sending details of his discovery of a comet on 7 September 1799
In this letter, Maskelyne thanks Pigott for sending details of his discovery of a comet on 7 September 1799. Maskelyne comments on similar observations submitted to him by Mr Stephen Lee of Hackney and Sir Henry Englefield. He also adds that he was able to see the comet with his short-sighted spectacles but it only had a small tail.
