Letters to the Admiralty concerning French prizes taken off Brittany, 1795.

Single sheet with copies of two letters sent to the Secretary of the Admiralty:
Letter from Vice-Admiral William Cornwallis, giving an account of the encounter between his squadron and French warships off Belle Isle (Belle-Île) on 7 and 8 June 1795. Sent from HMS ROYAL SOVEREIGN (1786) at sea, dated 11 June 1795.
Letter from Gosselin, sent from HMS KINGFISHER (1782) on reaching Falmouth, dated 24 June 1795. It explains that he witnessed the large ship being captured by Cornwallis’s squadron on 17 June and due to a severe gale, the KINGFISHER had afterwards parted company with the other ships.
