Papers of Vice-Admiral Sir Peter Cazalet, 1965-1967.

A small number of papers of Vice-Admiral Sir Peter Grenville Lyon Cazalet (1899-1982), chairman of The Navy League between 1960 and 1967.

Some of the papers relate to the debate surrounding the 1966 Defence White Paper, including letters to Cazalet from Lord Carrington, leader of the opposition in the House of Lords, and Christopher Mayhew, just after his resignation as Minister of Defence for the Royal Navy. There are also letters from Sir Michael Cary at the Ministry of Defence, relating to the choice of name for the Type 82 destroyer ordered in 1966.
