Letters labeled "Cowan Letters 1885/6, Bermuda".

Letters labeled "Cowan Letters 1885/6, Bermuda", containing letters between members of the Cowan family, chiefly from M.W. Cowan (junior) and his wife to their sons, who did not join their parents and sisters in Bermuda. Some letters are written from the SS NEVADA and New York, as the Cowans make their way to Bermuda. By October 1885, they are, to quote Mrs Cowan, "beginning to settle down in our sunny, yet son-less home!". Also contains a photograph of a female member of the Cowan family, a summary of the Cowan family's activities in 1885 to 1888, including James and Lutie's marriage in December 1886 in Bermuda.
