Medical notes and material relating to the Cowan family.

Pages torn from a journal or notebook, the first titled "General Remarks, SEOUL, 90". The SEOUL was recommissioned at Malta on 29 October 1889 and Sir James Porter assumed medical charge of the vessel. Another page is titled "General Economy and Hygiene", Most of the pages describe illnesses and their treatments. The last page begins "April 3rd 1884. Appointed to Royal Marine Batt. in Egypt and left London by P&O SS MASSILIA on 16 April, arriving at Suez on 29th April". Subfolder marked "Cowan D.", containing letters of the Cowan, Porter and Appleby families, 1907 to 1923, with a biographical note about the families. Subfolder marked "Cowan Letters 1840-1849" containing a family tree of the Cowan family, notes about the letters (there are no actual letters in this subfolder), and an advert for a conveyance company, 1930. Empty subfolder marked "Pritchard".
