Volume containing logs kept by Thomas Young Greet as a naval cadet and midshipman, between April 1869 and March 1870.

They cover his service on the wooden screw frigate HMS BRISTOL (1861), under Captain Frederick W. Wilson, between 25 April 1869 and 10 January 1870; HMS DUKE OF WELLINGTON (1852), flagship of Admiral Sir James Hope in Portsmouth Harbour, between 11 January 1870 and 27 February 1870; then the sloop HMS FAWN (1856), under Commander Herbert P. Knevitt, between 28 February 1870 and 28 March 1870.

Inserted are track charts, drawings, and a poster for a dramatic performance given by the officers of HMS ZEALOUS (1864) at Coquimbo in July 1872.
