A view along the length of the Nelson Gallery, Royal Naval Exhibition, Chelsea

A view along the length of the Nelson Gallery looking towards the entrance to the Franklin Gallery, Royal Naval Exhibition, Chelsea. The room is divided into standing screens down the centre, each named after a famous naval officer. The closest is 'Dundonald' named after Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald. The paintings displayed on the screen are an unidentified portrait (left) and the portrait of Commander Wyatt Rawson at Tel-el-Kebir by Caton Woodville. The 'Duckworth' screen behind, named after Admiral Sir John Duckworth, includes the painting 'Running the Gauntlet in the Nile between Metemneh and Khartoum' by S. Sufia. The walls are lined with other paintings and table-top display cases line the walls below the paintings.
