Three people sat in Japanese ceramic shop

A colourised landscape photograph showing a Japanese ceramic shop with three figures sat amongst the wares. A woman sits closer to the camera, on bare wooden boards at the front of the shop; she is wearing a kimono and geta (wooden sandals). Two men sit behind her, one holding an object (possibly an abacus or other counting device) in his right hand and the other partially obscured by stacked plates. All three figures are sat on the floor. Several hundred ceramic pieces (including glazed earthenware and porcelain) are arranged around them. These probably include but are not limited to jugs, vases, pourers, bowls, plates, dishes, footed planters, teapots and platters. Similar items are grouped together, including a group of larger pieces to the left of the image, teapots hanging on a wooden pillar to the right of the image and nine plates or platters aranged close to the roof. A portion of the shop's roof, covered by wooden shingles, is visible at the top of the image. Bare earth can be seen in front of the shop, in the foreground.
