The Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Bombay [Mumbai]
An uncaptioned black and white landscape photograph of the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Bombay [Mumbai]. The south-east and north-east sides of the building are visible. The building's main, central dome can be seen, as well as smaller domes at three of its corners. Smoke is rising from a chimney. The photograph has been taken from the area around the Gateway of India. The corner of the harbour wall is visible between the camera and the hotel, one section in front of the hotel and one running diagonally across the photograph. Two masts with furled sails, possibly belonging to one or more dhows, are visible over this wall to the left of the image, another towards the right of the image. Two men in pith helmets, probably Europeans, are stood near the wall in the forehround. Both are holding stationary bicyles. Other figures are visible around the base of the building.
