Study of bare tree branches

A sketch of two oak tree branches with no leaves, dated 10th and 12th of August. Beneath the larger branch sketch the annotation reads: “a full grown rather youngish oak. This is the lowest branch, it has leaves but their sketching(?) would cover the branch. It is viewed from below, the light is behind.” Next to the smaller branch the annotation reads: “This branch is dead.”
