Page of sketches of craft in Tagus off Cintra, Portugal 23 July 1865 11.46 a.m.

No. 1 of 30 (PAH3772 - PAH3801)

In the summer of 1861, aged 82, Schetky made his last visit abroad. His two weeks’ passage to Lisbon on board the steamer the 'Alhambra' was a gift from the directors of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. Schetky wrote of being ‘up at five or six every morning, sketching everything along the picturesque shores of Spain and Portugal’. This sheet of studies of local craft is annotated with the location and with colour notes.
