A full length studio portrait photograph of Moses, a Maori chief of Waitako, in a traditional patterned kaitaka 'cloak' pinned together at his right shoulder. The left earring has been hand tinted green, as has the pendant broach on the kaitaka.
The original print was captioned on the reverse 'Moses. Chief of Waikato'.
In ALB0373.39 the reverse of the carte de visit describes him as 'Moses. Now a native teacher' and is a head and shoulders portrait of him.
