Grab your sketchbook and pencils as we go exploring the Moon. Join us as we visit different features and environments on our nearest companion in space. But don’t forget your sketchbooks! Sketchbooks have been a constant in explorers' kits for hundreds of years.
On this unique journey you will be accompanied by astronomers and artists who will be part of your expedition team.
This event forms part of our Season of Drawing programme, which explores the importance of drawing through talks, tours and creative workshops.
Meet the team
Artist Joel Sydenham will give you tips and tricks on how to look and capture your experience, while astronomer Anna Gammon-Ross will navigate you around the Moon's surface.
Important information
This unique experience is suitable for children aged 5 and upwards.
Our team will be providing pencils and paper on the day. Please do not bring additional equipment as we are restricted to what can be used in the Planetarium.
From 12-2pm, the artist will be setting up a studio space in the Re-Think Space at the National Maritime Museum to help you expand your drawings and share them with the public.
