A photograph of 'Lamps' (one of the crew) scrubbing Scot, Captain B. A. Bryan's Collie dog, on the upper deck of the passenger/cargo liner Raglan Castle (1897). The dog is being washed in a wooden tub. This is the second of six photographs in a sequence of Scot being scrubbed and washed.
The caption for this photograph is: "The beginning"
The caption for the six photographs in the sequence is: ' "Scot (Capt: Bryan's Collie) at his bath, attended by his faithful servant "Lamps" .'
The Raglan Castle had left London on 12 April 1899 via Southampton, Madeira, Grand Canary for Cape Town and Algoa Bay, South Africa with cargo, passengers and mail.
