Spanish men-of-war and other shipping in Southampton Water

No. 63 of 73 (PAI0889 - PAI0961)

On the upper part of the sheet there is a study of sails and a drawing of a paddle steamer with two funnels. Beneath it is the inscription 'Spanish man of war/Southampton water.' On the lower part of the sheet there is a panoramic view of Southampton from the east with what appears to be a Spanish steamship in the centre. The town of Sothampton with St Mary’s Church is on the left. It is annotated beneath 'Southampton I------ ass------ [name of Spanish ship] man of war Southampton Docks/July 21st 1862.'
