A panoramic coastal landscape, probably the west coast of Scotland
No. 69 of 73 (PAI0889 - PAI0961)
This coastal landscape, taken from a high vantage point, with sea, islands and mountains almost certainly dates from 1848 when Schetky went on a cruise around the coasts of the Isle of Man, Ireland and Scotland with John Henry, 5th Duke of Rutland, in his schooner yacht Resolution. This resulted in the publication in 1850 of 'A Cruise in Scotch Waters', written by the Duke and illustrated with lithographs after Schetky’s watercolours. There are two figures in the foreground, one seated, the other and apparently drawing, the other standing beside him and looking on. It might be surmised that they represent Schetky and the duke.
