Rex (1931); Passenger vessel: Liner: Transatlantic liner

Scale: Unknown. A miniature waterline model of the Italian Line transatlantic passenger liner Rex (1931) made entirely in wood with metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. A number of fittings and features have been drawn onto the model rather than depicted in three dimensions. The hull is painted red at the waterline, black above, with white bulwarks and upperworks. Features include a long foredeck; main superstructure, arranged over four decks, the forward elevation façade of which is stepped terminating in a rectangular enclosed pilot house; enclosed promenade deck; twenty-four lifeboats, painted white; two swept lozenge-shaped funnels, painted off-white with red tops in Italian Line house colours; foremast and mainmast; and shelter deck at the stern.
