Warship; 80 guns
Scale: Unknown. A model of a French warship, made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 1.40pm on 21st October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar and the ship shows damage sustained in the action. The ship is three masted and ship rigged on all three masts. The remains of a French Tricolors is lying on the poop deck. Most of the sails show shot damage and there is a large hole in the fore topsail. Dark grey smoke is billowing from the deck and the port side of the ship. All the masts and the bowsprit are broken. The hull is painted black with white stripes along the gun decks, white on the deck, and black on the deck fittings.
