Bellisle; Warship; 74 guns

Scale: Unknown. A model of the Royal Naval warship, Bellisle, made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 1.40pm on 21st October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar and the ship is shown with damage sustained in the battle. The ship is three masted. Dark grey smoke is billowing from several places on the deck. The model depicts the completely dismasted and the bowsprit is broken. The top of the foremast, the upper masts of the mainmast and the mizzen mast are broken. The hull is painted black with white stripes along the two gun decks, white on the deck, and black on the deck fittings. On paper label attached to smoke "22".
