Passing and examination certificates, 1826-1851.

(1) Certificate issued to Dobbie on completing his education at the Royal Naval College, Portsmouth, being discharged into HMS PYRAMUS (1810) on 16 June 1826. Signed by Captain John W. Loring, Lieutenant Governor.
(2) Certificate issued to Dobbie following examinations in mathematics and navigation, dated 2 February 1830. Signed by Admiral Sir Robert Stopford, Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth, Sir Michael Seymour, Commissioner at Portsmouth, and Captain John W. Loring, Lieutenant Governor of the Royal Naval College.
(3) Passing certificate confirming Dobbie’s completion of six years of sea training and production of his journals, signed by Vice-Admiral Edward G. Colpoys, Commander-in-Chief of the North America and West Indies Station, on board HMS SHANNON (1806) at Barbados, dated 31 January 1831.
(4) Certificate issued to Dobbie following examinations on the gunnery training ship HMS EXCELLENT ex BOYNE (1810) at Portsmouth, dated 11 December 1838. Signed by Captain Thomas Hastings and Charles Stark, Instructor in Mathematics.
(5) Certificate of Examination in Steam issued to Dobbie by the Royal Naval College, Portsmouth, dated 12 December 1851. Signed by Henry Chads, Captain-Superintendent, and Rev. Thomas J. Main, Professor.
