Newspaper cuttings, 1846-1887.

Various newspaper cuttings from 'The Times' and 'The Pioneer', including some mounted on card, 1846-1887. They relate to Dobbie’s promotions, his service on HMS ROSE (1821) and HMS BUZZARD (1849), and the loss of the brig HMS WOLVERINE (1836) on Courtown Bank off Nicaragua. There is also a notice relating to his son Lieutenant Wallace Houston Dobbie of the 26th Madras Infantry.

Administrative / biographical background
Dobbie’s son Lieutenant Wallace Houston Dobbie, South African Constabulary. Orange River Colony Police, died after being wounded near Ladybrand on 30 November 1900.
