Four volumes of typescript copies of diplomatic correspondence with enclosures between the secretary of state for foreign affairs, Lord Grenville and Lord Carysfort, British Ambassador to the Prussian court at Berlin, 2 August 1800 to 25 October 1801, including official despatches, consular reports, separate and enclosed letters. William Wyndham Grenville, 1st Baron Grenville, PC, FRS, PC (Ire) (25 October 1759 – 12 January 1834) was a British Whig statesman. In 1791, Grenville was appointed Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. He served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1806 to 1807 as head of the Ministry of All the Talents. John Joshua Proby, Lord Carysfort, (1751-1828) was the only son of John, first baron Carysfort by his wife the Hon. Elizabeth Allen, elder daughter of John, second viscount Allen. He was educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated M.A. in 1770. He succeeded his father as second Baron Carysfort on 18 Oct. 1772, and took his seat, on 12 Oct. 1773, in the Irish House of Lords, where he soon became a prominent debater. He was appointed envoy-extraordinary and minister-plenipotentiary to the court of Berlin on 24 May 1800 (London Gazette, 1800, p. 499), a post which he retained until October 1802 (see De Martens, Supplément au Recueil des principaux Traités, 1802, ii. 424-36).
