Letter from Captain Edward Codrington to Lady Arden, 14 October 1806.
Letter from Captain Edward Codrington to Lady Arden. Warning her against raising her hopes as to George's attainments, and reminding her that his manners will be those of a sailor, not a gentleman on land. He wishes she had not sent George money, as Codrington wishes to keep him on a par with his less wealthy peers. Tells her the fleet has deteriorated since Nelson's death - there are no vegetables or stock for the fleet, nor associating with fellow officers. Dated ORION off Cadiz, 14 October 1806.
