Dover to the Isle of Wight.

'Dover to the Isle of Wight'. A version of this volume published posthumously as 'A Journey from London to the Isle of Wight' (London, 1801), Vol. 2.

The itinerary roughly follows the south coast of England from Dover, through Sussex and Hampshire as far as Gosport, before ending with an account of the Isle of Wight.

This volume is a continuation of Pennant's tour from London to Dover in P/16/23, once again based in part on his real tour of the south coast in 1787: see 'Literary Life' (1793), p. 31. In a letter to Richard Bull, 16 June 1792, Pennant writes that he 'arrived near Havant [in Hampshire] two years ago' and is now intending to resume the work, and in a letter of 22 August 1793 writes that he will 'probably complete' it soon: see 'Curious Travellers Editions' [https://editions.curioustravellers.ac.uk/], item ID 1155 & 1168.

Again, a number of illustrations seemingly the work of Moses Griffith, including the watercolour views of 'Hythe Church Kent' (pp. 12–13), 'Beachy Head Sussex' (pp. 74-75), 'Beachy Head 1 League Distant' and '2 Leagues Distant' (pp. 80–81), 'St Catherine's Isle of Wight' (p. 216), St Catharine's Tower (p. 217), and other untitled costal views (pp. 215, 224-225).
