Uncatalogued: Papers of Joseph Andrew Ford, Coast Guard (1832-72); Document of William John Ford (1886); Document of Alfred Lingham.
11 items. 1) A printed letter to Joseph Ford from the Coast Guard Office nominating him for probation as a Boatman in the Revenue Coast Guard. 2) A handwritten letter from Trinity Wharf acknowledging that Alfred Lingham had entered the service in March 1866. 3) A printed letter from the Comptroller General of the Revenue Coast Guard in the UK confirming the appointment of Joseph Ford as Boat Man subsequent to his probation. 4) An extremely worn document titled "Particulars of the Service of the Party named on the [...] Page", concerning the causes of discharge for warships/vessels/revenue cruizers/boats and revenue stations. The application is from the Metropolitan Asylums Board, and has been filled in by William John Ford. 8) A small booklet titled "Notice to Seamen, containing the Advantages and Conditions of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve", covering enrolement, qualifications and pensions/retirement. 9) 5 tickets for the Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariners' Royal Benevolent Society, signed by Joseph Andrew Ford. 10) 2 collections of certificates of service. 11) 2 Handwritten references for Joseph Ford. Likely accompanying the previous certificates of service as evidence during a job application.
