Administrative / biographical background
Commander Joseph Groves Boxhall (RD RNR 1884-1967) was the 4th Officer on RMS TITANIC and later served as a Naval Officer. He was placed in charge of lifeboat No. 2 and served as witness at both American and British Inquiries. In 1957 he acted as a technical advisor for the film adaptation of "A Night to Remember".
