Photocopy of an extract from "When We Went First Class" by Ellen Williamson

The extract is an account of Mrs W. Douglas' experience of the sinking of the TITANIC.

Administrative / biographical background
Mahala (1864-1945) and Walter (1861-1912) Douglas were the author's aunt and uncle. They had married in New York in 1906, and were returning from a three month European tour, to their home in Minnesota. Her husband, an American businessman, had retired in January 1912. He did not survive the sinking.
