Administrative / biographical background
Edith Eileen Haisman (nee Brown) (1896-1997) was planning to emigrate to Seattle, with her family. Born and raised in Cape Colony [South Africa], the Brown family had sailed to England and were travelling as second-class passengers on the TITANIC when she sank. Her father did not survive, and she and her mother soon returned to Cape Town. In 1995, she attended the opening of the Titanic Memorial Garden, at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
