A port broadside view of a Fijian double canoe (Waqa Tabu) under plaited pandanus sail in calm waters. Eight Fijian men and one boy are on the deck and deck house. The forward leaning mast, held up by shrouds that lead to the deck and the stern, has a crescent-shaped mast head (domodomo).

The print has a caption stating: 'Fijian Double Canoe'

HMS Challenger (1858) visited Ngaloa and Levuka between 25 July and 1 August 1874 during its scientific circumnavigation of the globe.
